A carefully selected and perfectly tailored dress can hide a million ice creams, a strategic stylist can turn lifeless locks into cascades of flowing mane, your nails can be brought back to life with a clever paint job… But your skin is a different story. Neglect that puppy and it will reveal a thousand sins on your wedding day!

This blog is a 2 part series, because I wanted to give you both sides of the spectrum – the low down on Natural as well as Cosmetic treatments. This week I am going to introduce you to the Cosmetic cosmos!

I have always been a skincare junkie. I was around 12 when my Mum bought me my first Clinique teen kit. I applied each potion religiously and loved the daily ritual. Fast forward to today, I have come leaps and bounds and use a combination of natural and cosmetic treatments and I have done my research, tried and failed, and now believe I have it totally nailed. I am so very blessed to have access to the best in the business, received recommendations from the celeb set and got the secrets from our best beauty editors on exactly what those girls with the glow are doing!

And it seems that they all jump in line every time to see the Gals at The Clinic in Bondi Junction. Kaye Scott and Lisa Sullivan-Smith opened the doors in 2001 and have fast become known as the premier non-surgical cosmetic clinic in Sydney, with their primary goal being to provide you with the answer to total skin care and facial rejuvenation.

I sat down with these babes, busted some myths, quashed some fears and essentially found you the secret to that glow you have been lusting after!

G: What are the most popular treatments that you recommend for brides?

Kaye:

  1. Laser hair removal for under arms, it is best to start 3 months prior to your wedding.
  2. Hyperhidrosis – this stop perspiration on the big day and is done one month prior.
  3. Medical grade Peels combined with IPL/Pelleve/fraxel.

G: …and is there a common theme that your soon to be Brideys want to achieve when it comes to their skin?

Lisa: All brides want

– clear, congestion free skin

– refined pores

– no pigmentation (even skin tone)

G: What is your Favourite treatment at the moment? And what are it’s major benefits?

Kaye: A course of 3 benefit Peels combined with IPL or Pelleve. Major benefits include clear skin, pore refinement, even skin tone and skin tightening.

G: Who do you think has beautiful skin (celebrity) that your clients lust after? And represents the style of your practice?

Kaye and Lisa: Jessica Beil, Scarlett Johanson, Leighton Meester.

G: Are there any revolutionary treatments that have recently arrived at The Clinic that you are loving?

Kaye: Pelleve is amazing for special events and young brides. There is no down time and is great for skin tightening, plumping and improving under eye puffiness. You can read more about it here.

G: Ideally, how long before the wedding should my Bridey’s come visit The Clinic?

Kaye: 3-6 months

G: Cosmetic vs. natural – what do you think is the major benefit of going cosmetic?

Kaye: The major benefits are visible and more advanced results in a shorter period of time.

G: For those who are scared of the idea of a ‘chemical peel’, what would you say to them?

Lisa: The word ‘chemical’ is an old term. We call them medical grade peels and are chemical free. Our peels are all preservative free and full of enzymes and antioxidants. Gone are the days of having ‘pizza face’ ie. As in Sex and the City. There is no down time required, your skin looks amazing immediately. Most brides only require superficial peeling which is the dead epidermal layer. You can read more about that here.

G: When looking for a reputable cosmetic/laser medical practitioner and practice, what advice to you give to ensure you are being treated by absolute professionals?

Lisa: Check all their credentials online, most websites offer information on training and experience. Word of mouth is usually the best and obviously always opting for experienced practitioners.

G: And what makes your clinic different to others?

Lisa: Our clinic has been established for 15 years. There is an amazing team of doctors and nurses who understand it’s not just the skin we treat but all the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that can affect the skin. We pride ourselves on professionalism and honesty and give our patients a realistic expectation of what their results will be. We have a high level of clinical safety and all members of the team who perform procedures are constantly updating their training to give the best outcome to the patient.

On our website we have several personal recommendations from beauty editors of major magazine publications.

Happy Glowing!
